Kia fob not working

2013 Soul+ and both flip key fobs suddenly stopped working. The unlock and all-door lock functions seems to respond ok when I put the key into the driver door. The only clue I have is that before the problem started I had connected a 2A trickle charge on the battery for a few hours (with the battery still connected).
